Trip Introduction.
Kisumu and Kakamega form the Kenya’s western tourism circuits.Kisumu is Kenyas third largest city with numerous attractions such as such as the Kisumu Museum which contains pavilions with aquaria, terrarium, exhibits, a snake pit, weaponry, jewellery and farm tools of people of Nyanza”s province. There is an exhibition of the Bergidala that explains the origin of the Luo, their migration to western Kenya, traditional healing points and full scale recreation of a traditional homestead.
Kakamega hosts the Kakamega rain forest which is an extension of the Congo basin which stretched across the Central Africa.The forest is home to bush pigs, giant forest hedgehogs, colobus monkeys, Debrazzar monkeys and pottos. Some of the birds to be seen here include the Blue Headed Bee Eater, Black Billed Turaco, Turner’s Eremomela and Grey Parrots. Bird watching, hiking and rock climbing can be enjoyed here in the serenity of the forest that time forgot.
